For a long time, I’ve planned to write this article but continued to gather my travel experience. Bit by bit, I’ve been writing down all my insights in a notebook, waiting until I have enough. In this article, I want to share my thoughts on how traveling contributes to people’s lives.
Recreation
Changing the environment and switching to other activities helps distract from daily routine and work-related problems. Along with the journey, you will get a splash of positive emotions and relaxation. With the energy gained from the trip, you will return home with renewed vigor to cope with everything faster and easier!
Travel Makes You Healthier
- Planning a vacation increases the feeling of well-being; people feel happier in the run-up to the holiday rather than buying material items.
- Regular rest reduces the risk of a heart attack; people that haven’t taken a vacation for several years are 30% more likely to have a heart attack than those who find time to relax.
- Travel improves the emotional state. People who go on vacation less than once in two years suffer from stress and depression much more often than those who rest regularly.
- Vacation enhances sleep and improves physical endurance. Since people tend to walk a lot during their journeys and attend many excursions, their muscles are in motion all day long. Such walks perform similar to fitness training. And fatigue after such walks helps to sleep tight.
- Travel experience, in turn, remains in memory forever. Therefore, people who regularly travel to different countries and islands are more likely to be in a good mood.
Know Yourself
Travel to get to know yourself better. The more you travel, the more opportunities you have for introspection and reflection about the past. Travel is a great mentor who teaches you to explore the world, helps you know yourself better, and find your way in this universe!
Change Yourself
Travel for changes. The more you travel, the more new experiences, fears, challenges, and people you face. Through this priceless experience, you undergo positive changes that will improve your life skills in the future.
Become More Open-Minded
Travel makes you more tolerant, empathic, and understanding. When you come across new cultures, you start to accept lots of new things. You realize that there are many other cultures from which you can pick up something useful. Therefore, the journey broadens your horizons and gives you a 360° perspective on the world.
Value Your Home and Country
When you travel, it appears that you open up new beautiful places, countries, and you will never want to go back home. But remember this old quote? East or west, a home’s the best. Well, you realize it even better abroad.
Thanks to traveling and contrast, you begin to realize that your homeland is unique and beautiful.
Fewer Prejudices
The reason you should travel is that it eliminates prejudices. I used to be afraid to travel because I had all these preconceived ideas that people from certain countries were terrible. However, as I started to travel around the world, I realized that it’s not true and that people are almost the same worldwide. I would estimate that 90% of people are good, but 10% of the bad people get all the media attention.
Learn About Culture and History
I like to travel because I want to learn. It’s hard to travel and interact with other cultures without learning something new. You can catch a German student movement while traveling in Germany or see how matchmaking happens in Morocco’s Berber culture. I like the days when I become a witness of something like that.
Traveling is like a puzzle to solve. For example, when you stand in front of a ticket machine in the Prague subway and don’t know a single Czech word.
Discover the Earth’s Beauty
You should travel to see all the incredible beauty our mother earth has. There are so many kinds of wonderful landscapes in the deserts, mountains, oceans, and fjords. Seeing all these ecosystems can give us a more specific understanding of what we can lose if we neglect nature.
Understanding Other People Better
There are many reasons why people travel. Many of us are traveling to escape from our lives or problems. Others – to learn new cultures. Some travel because it’s cool. Personally, I enjoy traveling because it helps me feel freedom and interact with different people.
Those who never travel are exposed to some propaganda to build disagreements, making us believe that our neighbor countries are enemies. The more you travel, the more you learn that we have the same feelings, emotions, and lives. And the gutter press or TV news only broadcast a particular opinion in which the government is interested. By traveling, you can learn a lot on your own and make the right conclusions.
