What to Play on Your Tablet: 10 Games Not Just for PC and Consoles

game-on-tablet

People who prefer to play on mobile devices are often persecuted in the gaming community because it is supposedly impossible to get pleasure from such leisure. But today, this thesis is debatable.

World of Tanks Blitz

The community of virtual tankers today has hundreds of millions of people. So it is logical that the developers decided to allow fans of their brainchild the opportunity to play anytime and anywhere – and in 2014, they launched a mobile version. Now it is enough to have a tablet to participate in tank battles with almost the same graphics as on a PC. Although World of Tanks Blitz is a stripped-down version of the full-fledged World of Tanks, it is hardly inferior to the original project in terms of the dynamics of battles.

The game in the basic mode is a confrontation between two tank teams of seven players. The task of each side is to destroy all enemy vehicles or capture a neutral base, where you need to stay for some time without receiving damage.

Minecraft

Minecraft

The gameplay and mechanics of Minecraft are extremely simple, which is why the game is sometimes underestimated. However, it gives incredible scope for imagination. Do you want to build a house for your character and raise sheep there? Yes, easy! Are you planning to build a famous life-size school of witchcraft and wizardry? No problem! Have you decided to make a model of your hometown with all the streets and buildings? No question – there would be enough time and enthusiasm.

Minecraft’s plot question is as controversial as anything else. It seems like it’s just a sandbox where you are free to do whatever you want without burdening yourself with any stories. On the other hand, this world hides many secrets, and an inquisitive researcher will always find food for thought.

Standoff 2

At first glance, Standoff 2 can easily be mistaken for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which has suddenly moved to a mobile phone. It is not without reason – the essence is almost the same here – teams of terrorists and special forces; small confusing maps; global ranking system. And, of course, firing to the victorious!

One of the main features of Standoff 2 is the complete absence of aiming assistance and automatic shooting. Therefore, skill decides everything here, as it should be in a competitive shooter. And if you feel that you cannot win because of the meanness of the random, which is always slipping someone into the team, then organize your own clan – playing with friends is always more fun.

Among Us

The plot of this game is quite simple: a team of engineers is working on the spaceship, whose task is to keep the life support systems in working order. But one day, an alien creature enters their ranks, cleverly disguises itself, and begins to kill the crew members one by one. Those who survived need to find out under whose mask the enemy is hiding and get rid of them as soon as possible.

The goals also depend on what role – an astronaut or an assassin – the player has to play. If you happen to be a civilian in this space “Mafia,” you need to be friendly, carry out your duties on the ship, and carefully monitor those around you. In this case, it is desirable that other players can confirm your alibi. Otherwise, by a collegial decision, you will be thrown into open space while the alien maniac continues to rampage.

If you are a killer, then the tasks are exactly the same; only your duties on the ship are purely sabotaged. And in between sending cute messages to the game chat and traveling through the ventilation shafts, you need to manage to get rid of other players without being noticed.

Asphalt 9: Legends

ASPHALT-9LEGENDS

This game makes most players shed tears for the times when Need for Speed Underground, Underground 2, and Most Wanted were at the top of the arcade racing games. Nitrous oxide, drift, police chases – it’s all there.

The core of Asphalt 9: Legends is a career mode where the protagonist has to climb the racing Olympus, overtaking rivals in a series of difficult races. To do this, it is not a sin to use all available opportunities: from tuning and buying new cars to finding shortcuts on the tracks.

Brawl Stars

The popular MOBA genre is not standing still, conquering new gaming platforms. And mobile Brawl Stars is another proof of that.

The game does not have a plot as such, but it has a lot of characters with their own unique stories and a huge number of game modes that allow you to combine tower defense format, “royal battle,” and even football in one game. At the same time, the developers regularly delight players with new seasonal modes.

Sky: Children of the Light

Children-of-the-Light

One of the most beautiful and, at the same time, story-deep games among mobile projects. At the same time, which is paradoxical, the plot itself is not directly told here. The volume is given to it by the gameplay and mechanics of interaction with other players who meet in the guise of random unnamed companions.

You have to play as a cute winged creature looking for a way to the Heavenly Kingdom. Ahead of you is a journey through seven different locations, from a forest full of secrets to a storehouse of knowledge.

Digging through the deepest nooks, finding reliably hidden objects, and passing optional levels, available only in the company, makes Sky: Children of the Light unique. This is the only way to plunge headlong into the multifaceted lore and imbued with the history of the world.

Oceanhorn

OCEANHORN

A project for those who are nostalgic for the unforgettable classics. Oceanhorn blends elements from the old Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy, cleverly diluting the mood of a fast-paced epic adventure with a slow-paced role-playing game.

Oceanhorn tells the story of a boy whose father once left his home, leaving his son only a note, an old diary, and a mysterious necklace. The orphaned boy will have to find out what happened to his parent and turn from a rosy-cheeked boy into a hardened adventurer.

Traveling through the vastness of the Kingdom of Arcadia will take more than ten hours, which already puts Oceanhorn on a par with many projects for PC and consoles. And the title of the masterpiece of the mobile gaming industry is strengthened by the musical accompaniment created by Nobuo Uematsu and Kenji Ito – the legendary composers of the Final Fantasy, SaGa, and Mana series.

Very Little Nightmares

Very-Little-Nightmares

An isometric prequel to the acclaimed Little Nightmares by Bandai Namco. If you love the original, and the second part released in February 2021 only strengthened your sympathy for the dark setting and puzzles, then Very Little Nightmares is an excellent choice.

The scene of the action turned out to be the frightening mansion Nest, in which the girl in the yellow raincoat was not lucky enough to wake up. The player’s task: to help the little girl leave the creepy place, maneuvering between its aggressive inhabitants and solving numerous riddles. This project, by the way, is not a platformer, like Little Nightmares for PC and consoles, but rather a puzzle. Therefore, it will simply not work to run it: you need to turn on your brains.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

The plot for Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds is not so brilliant. But you can’t call it senseless either since the player has a specific goal: to survive the local apocalypse in the company of 99 more people. To survive in an aggressive environment, you need to acquire the necessary uniforms, as well as learn to respond to danger with either a well-aimed shot or sparkling heels. The game provides everything you need for this.
