The Sims series has been around for 20 years already, and most of us played one of its editions in childhood or have been enjoying it since then and till today. Maybe you have just downloaded it and wonder how to use some magic codes and useful tricks to get even more benefits while playing. As an experienced Sims player, I can’t help sharing all the tips I have gathered over all these years. Some of them may be too obvious but keep reading; there are some secret cheats too.
Choose Right Traits
The first thing that you start the game with is creating a Sim. Apart from appearance, clothes, and accessories, your Sim also has a unique set of traits. Each of them serves to describe and complete a character of your Sim, but more importantly, they can influence the well-being of your personage. Here is a number of traits that I find the most useful:
- Ambitious – if you are not a fan of cheating and want to earn money on a regular job, you might want to make your Sim ambitious; it will allow him or her to get a better job and higher salary
- Active – Sims with this trait stay energized a bit longer than others and earn scores in fitness skill faster too
- Romantic – this trait helps to get to the fourth base much easier and get extra points that keep your Sim happy for a longer time
- Self-Assured –Â a self-assured Sim often feels confident, and it helps him or her in a number of ways, but especially in career growth.
Use Your Moods
In The Sims 4, a Sim always has a certain emotion, happy, sad, thoughtful, romantic, etc. If you perform some actions, you can change your mood. For example, spruce your Sim up in the mirror, and he will become confident. I usually do it before sending him to work because it helps to get a promotion quicker.
Solve the Needs Automatically
If you see that a certain need or several of them are on the critical level, there is a quick way of resolving them. Just click on that need, and your Sim will automatically do what is necessary to handle that. For example, if he is hungry, he will take a bite, and when he wants to go to sleep, he just goes to bed or falls on the ground and sleeps there, so make sure he is at home at the moment. You see, the principle is easy and quick. The Sim does everything on his own without you directing them.
Cheat Codes
I can’t help but mention cheat codes. That is basically that one thing that makes your play so cool in the point of view of decorating the house or unleashing some hidden potential of your Sim. With the right code, nothing is impossible. You probably already know the most popular code called MOTHERLODE, which gives you 50,000 simoleons every time you use it. I don’t imagine how I lived before learning about this code.
Second favorite cheat code is Cheat Need > Enable Need Decay. As you may guess from the name, it makes Sim’s needs to go up and down normally. I just love this code as you save much time and can do something really fun instead of just sleeping or showering.
Another thing I like about Sims 4 is that you can apply a special code and your Sim will turn into a ‘plant’ person. That is a shift-click cheat; if you are not familiar with it, it is not a problem. The principle is quite easy. Just hold down the shift key while clicking on your Sim or a certain object you want to interact with.
If you are a fan of spooky things, you may turn your Sim into a ghost and continue playing the game. Haunt your own house and scare the bits out of your roommates or family members. Yeap, that can be so much fun! The code traits.equip trait Ghost_[cause of death] will do the trick. Just don’t forget to add the right cause of death for the code to work.
Use Youtube
And this is a bonus tip from me. When I started to use it, I opened a whole new angle of the game. So go to Youtube and watch videos of other players who have a great experience playing the game and share some useful tips. There is everything, from special garment items to house building guidelines. Youtubers are really inventive, and their ideas can not only come in handy but also inspire you to be imaginative during your own play. Some of the top bloggers also have special packs of items that are available for download and often for free. Isn’t it great?
