Frankly speaking, I’m very excited to write this review, as Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of my favorite games! Although I will try to be unbiased and describe only the best features and provide solid reasons for playing it. It goes without saying that your taste may be different from mine but, when it comes to this game, all my friends, even not gamers, will agree that Red Dead Redemption 2 is one piece of joy! Well, I won’t be rambling on and on; just start already reading my review.
Gaming World
Even if you haven’t played Red Dead Redemption, you have heard about its awesome visuals for sure. From a stone on the road to the mud on the carriage wheels, every piece of this world is so friggin’ realistic and unique. The map itself is huge, and it is hard to imagine how many hours developers were creating all this beauty. And the transition from one landscape to another is so smooth that you barely notice it. Whether you are wandering through deserts full of sand or snowy mountain hills, you get an unforgettable experience. Plus, cool soundtracks are another great thing that helps you to dive into this new world to the fullest.
But I must warn you, once you have played Red Dead Redemption 2, all other worlds will seem lifeless and boring to you. Very few games can compete with this masterpiece, where everything is so real, you can almost feel it with your hand.
Wild Hunt
In the beginning, you may not even understand how cool the process of hunting is, but it will come with time. As soon as you get accustomed to the game, it will certainly blow your mind!
Here you will be after all kinds of animals, from squirrels that are good for making hats to huge bears and dangerous alligators. And the best thing is that all of them behave very naturally, basically, the same as if they were in real-life situations. There are many exciting details about hunting, but I won’t disclose them now. Play by yourself and have your imagination surprised the way it was with me!
Badass Characters
That must be the only game that has such a memorable cast of characters. And when I say that, I mean every single character, from the Sheriff of Valentine to a random beggar on the street. While other game makers struggle to make at least a main hero look good, the cast of Red Dead Redemption 2 is bigger than in a movie and more realistic than any other game. On top of that, each character has a unique voice and text, so you actually want to listen to him.
The Best Villain Ever
Dutch Van der Linde is that type of villain you almost at once fall in love with. He is far from a typical bad guy you are used to seeing in movies or games. Dutch has some kind of charm that makes you want to watch him for hours. Probably, one of the reasons it is so is the desire of Rockstar, the game developer, to tell his story from the very beginning and make us care about him. And that is the case not only with Dutch but with many other characters too. As players, we live, cry, laugh, and rage with the characters throughout the game. I must say, very few games can manage to get such an influence over the audience.
Mind-Blowing Graphics and Animations
I have already partially mentioned that all characters and decorations are of exceptional quality. You may think that the game must definitely have some glitches because of such a big and diverse world structure, but no. Everything is totally responsive and works correctly. I have not experienced any problems with loading the characters’ speech or certain parts of the map.
Every tiniest detail in the game is well thought out so that you can enjoy crystal-clear water in the stream and watch grass growing on the ground. Well, graphic designers and animators did a great job crafting all of that beauty.
Steady Pace
Sometimes I bump into posts claiming that Red Dead Redemption 2 has a slow pace. I’m really surprised why somebody considers that a con. To my mind, it is a wonderful opportunity to slow down and enjoy a truly remarkable story at your own pace. You can spend hours hunting in beautiful forests or exploring caves before returning to the main storyline. Why not? And for those who like to do everything quickly, well, you still can play at your own tempo without distractions from the plot.
The game is created so that you don’t have to rush things, trying to complete a mission as fast as possible. Instead, you take your time and enjoy the pace of this one-of-a-kind western.
